On the night of Halloween at 2:47 AM a lightless U.S. Airforce C130 touched down on the only landing strip in the Republic of Palau. At the end of the run way, opposite from the terminal, a small group of trucks and cars from the presidents office and the U.S. embassy circled the plane. After a 16-hour flight in shackles from Guantanamo, reportedly costing 8 million dollars, the Uighurs were signed over to Palau and exited the plane escorted by casually dressed military personnel.
