Bangladeshi Electrocuted in Ngchesar, Palau

On Monday May 28, abortion 2012 a foreign worker from Bangladesh was electrocuted while trying to get lemon fruits using a metal pole during a rainy day at Risong, Ngerkesou, Ngchesar. The worker, Suman Kowser age 30, has been in Palau for 6 years and an employee of Ephraim Polycarp and is listed as a farm helper, according to his records at the Labor Office.  Report stated that Suman was at Risong earlier in the afternoon climbing a lemon tree trying to obtain some lemon fruits using a pole with a stiff hook. It was raining during that day, so in trying to pull down the fruit, he accidentally hit a live wire that was close to the tree. He apparently fell and his neck was caught on the branches of the tree. Several persons passed by tried to help him down but were unable for two hours, because the pole is still in his hand and that it electrified the entire tree. Finally the PPUC arrive and were able to cut off the power enabling the Fire and Rescue people to lower him to the ambulance and transport him to the Belau National Hospital. He was already found dead and also his left arm was severed during the electrocution. According to this type of situation, an employer is responsible to ship his remains to his homeland unless they make arrangement to bury his body in Palau.
