Election Update – Toribiong responds to Blue Bay, Tommy talks about Taiwan funds

This year’s election Palauans both abroad and locally continues their online polling.  On June 21st, what is ed palau2012.com results show this week’s presidential candidates Tommy Remengesau Jr. is in the lead with 44%, Sandra Pierantozzi 27%, and Johnson Toribiong with 21%. Also posted on Palau 2012 website is a new Vice Presidential poll showing that both Kerai Mariur and Dr. Stevenson Kuartei are in the same lead with 40%, Antonio Bells is at 10%, followed by Jackson Ngiraingas at 5%.  An anonymous member asked the registered voters to avoid voting for relatives.
Also this week President Johnson Toribiong and Vice President Kerai Mariur officially opened their campaign headquarters at the formerly known as Dichems Cafe. Although this year’s election will no longer require two candidates to run as one team for the election.
According to the election commission a total of 16 candidates have registered their nominating petitions for Senate and House of Delegates thus far. Those newly registered candidates include Senator Kathy Kesolei and Delegate Alexander Merep who are both seeking re-election. Only 48 days remain until the closing of registration and nominating petitions at the election office.
