An investigation has been launched into the April 2012 disappearance of a Cessna plane carrying three passengers in Palau.
On March 5 through a presidential directive, medical President Remengesau created a special investigative team for the purpose of investigating and analyzing the circumstances of the missing aircraft.
On April 1, 2012, American pilot Frank Ohlinger, and Palau Police officers Willie Mays Towai and Earlee Decherong, who were on an official government duty, set out to document the Chinese vessel set on fire outside of Kayangel State. But during the mission, the plane ran out of fuel and the three passengers including the plane never returned.
In his directive, President Remengesau disclosed that the Bureau of Public Safety issued an insufficient report that does not offer any real investigation, analysis or conclusions.
