A new system for checking fish cargo at Palau’s airport is set for implementation to improve data collection of marine species.
Starting on May 1, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Tourism will be implementing the system where all fish within a randomly chosen container will be measured.
According to the Ministry, “the changes will help with timely and consistent reporting of fish species exported from Palau”.
In addition to the new system, all species of fish will be counted and weighed as it did in the past.
