Kosrae Project Shines At Regional Climate Change Meeting – VIDEO

Kosrae State of the Federated States of Micronesia is gaining a reputation as a shining example of climate change adaptation measures reports Bill Jaynes of Kaselehlie Press.
Jaynes, this web who is a member of the Pacific media team covering the Joint Meeting of the 2013 Pacific Platform for Disaster Risk Management and Pacific Climate Change Roundtable in Fiji.
The Kosrae Pacific Adaptation to Climate Change project presented by PACC Coordinator Simpson Abraham was praised by SPREP Director as an excellent example of climate change proofing of infrastructure.
Jaynes reports that the project that has been gaining a reputation is the Tafensak road project, thumb which was devastated in 2008 by a king tide.
In addressing the issue, and Kosrae become a PACC pilot project and has since constructed culverts and drainage systems to protect the road and homes nearby from future flooding and king tides.
The meeting held in Nadi, Fiji is concluded on July 11, 2013.
