High Infancy Mortality Rate In Yap; Efforts To Address Issue Ongoing – VIDEO

A Department of Health has revealed Yap State to have higher infancy mortality rate than any other FSM states.
According to the report, more about Yap State had much higher infancy mortality rate between the year 2006 to 2011 compared to other states in the Federated States of Micronesia.
In addition, the report also indicated that the State has the lowest percentage of breastfeeding mothers. In efforts to reduce the mortality rate and increase breastfeeding, health professionals have begun providing effective tips and other useful information on breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding, according to the report, can prevent deaths from bacteria infection and other diseases such as diarrhea.
