Palau Begins To Finalize Details For The 45th Pacific Islands Forum

The Republic of Palau’s Pacific Islands Forum Organizing Committee is in full gear as members begin to finalize details, sick venues and accommodations for this year’s leaders meeting.

With less than four months left in preparations, prostate the Committee has so far secured a total of 446 rooms for Forum members and their delegations.
All hotels in Republic have also been blocked during that time period reports Jeraldine Tudong, Secretariat of the Organizing Committee.
As of date, 14 out of 16 Forum member countries have confirmed their participation with Australia having the largest delegation of 30 people.
Tudong told OTV that all confirmed guests are required to provide information regarding their hotel preferences by April 15, 2014.
In addition to Forum members and their delegations, civil society organizations, the media, observers, and associate members of the Forum, the incoming chair President Tommy Remengesau Junior also invited VIP guests to join social functions during the duration of the Forum.
The meeting for this year’s Forum has been finalized as “The Ocean: Life and Future”.
The logo corresponds with the theme in incorporating Palau’s flag colors of blue and yellow as well as the ocean and marine life.
This month, the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat’s Advance Team will be in Palau for their second visit.
Current Secretary General of the Forum Secretariat Tuiloma Nerodi Slade will also travel to Palau later this month to meet with the Palau government and the Forum Organizing Committee.
Other details and preparations for the meeting are still ongoing.
