This past week, here a Palau High School science teacher was recognized as teacher of the year during the 19th Education Convention in Palau.
Juliet Ngotel received the award during the opening of the four-day convention that also honored other teachers.
In her speech, approved Ngotel expressed appreciation to those who helped and supported her throughout her 30-year career as an educator.
For her recognition, more about Ngotel was awarded with a $2,500 cash price, plaque and certificate.
The Education Ministry also awarded a teacher from Ngeremlengui Elementary School as a runner-up, with a teacher from Peleliu Elementary School taking third place.
During the convention, Director of Bureau of Education Administration Emery Wenty announced the appointment of former Palau High School Principal Ibuuch Tomoichi as the new Chief of Personnel of the Ministry of Education.
The convention is organized each year to update Education Ministry employees, particularly teachers of programs as well as provide professional development activities to build the capacity of teachers in Palau.
