Palau President Remengesau has joined world leaders in the 68th United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Following the Pacific Islands Forum earlier this month, and the Pacific’s commitment through the Majuro Declaration for Climate Leadership, President Remengesau expressed that he would be highlighting the issue of climate change again during the UN meeting.
The President noted that, “We (the Pacific) are the window to what will eventually happen to the rest of world if the issues of climate change, global warming, and sea level rise will not be addressed quickly.” He says that this will be the heart of his presentation.
In addition to climate change, the President will also address security issues, support diplomatic friends in key posts in the UN Security Council and issues of health and education.
He is scheduled to speak on September 25th.
